Deal or No Deal

Has anybody seen Deal or No Deal?
Because I love that show.
It's got all that you need in life to make good television:
Money - check!
Risk - check!
Smart ass talk show host with shiny head - check!

And to top it all off, they have all of the hot ex-hooters girls in charge of opening the cases.
I'm teling you, it's good television...

Some days at work I wonder if I'm being tested to see how much I can put up with before I crack and/or cry.
I am very close to being able to provide them with a definite answer to that question.
That's all I'm gonna say about that...

Tomboy No More

So we started a slow pitch softball team at work.
It's been about 8 years since I played softball, so I was really excited to get to play ball again. I remember how much fun it was when I was growing up - I loved to get dirty and sweaty (my tomboy tendencies), and I never really had any fears of getting hurt back then.
Times have changed.
Somewhere along the way, I got scared of the ball. I learned this fact a few days ago when hubby was hitting grounders at me in our back yard. It just seemed so unnatural to willingly stand in the path of a hard-hit flying object.
And I think I've figured out the difference between my thought process now and my thought process 8 years ago: I now have to pay my own doctor/dentist bills. And that's not cheap. I can no longer take a line drive to the head on my parents' tab.
Somewhere along the way, I became a wuss. A cheap, cheap wuss.

This Is What Best Friends Are For!!

So yesterday, during the height of my insane womanly insecurity, one of my girls sent me this email:

but you know courtney
i think youre lovely
you have no flaws
personality--fabulous
sense of humor---yes by God!
legs---thin
stomach--flat
ass---to die for!

there... apersonalized pep talk for you

She's a total liar, but I appreciate that. You know I love you, girl!!!

Damn

Women are like dogs.
We sniff each other out, looking for weaknesses and/or flaws.
Sure do.
There's a hot girl that just started working at our office today.
I've been circling her for awhile now. Checkin' her out to see if there are any crazy habits that I can latch on to.
There's not one - she's nice. And hot.
I hate her :)

All I'm Saying Is This:

It's a hell of a day when a (presumably high) customer starts randomly yelling out, "You're saying I'm a whore. You're saying I sleep with people out of wedlock! You called me a whore!"
It's even worse/better when the same customer literally falls face first on the ground on three separate occasions while trying to run out the door.

Four Years

Today is the four year anniversary of my college graduation. Four years. And the only thing I regret from college is the fact that I graduated. A truly smart person would still be there partying.
Instead, I spend my days partying with the pissed off public at large.
Why so angry, America?

You Guys Knew This Was Coming...

...Pictures from the Chicago Trip!!! How could I possibly go on a trip and not post pictures? Feel free to skip it if you want :

These are pics from the White Sox Game with our new friends, Gina and Carolyn, who are two of the funniest people I've ever met :)

This is Navy Pier and Lake Michigan, which looks more like an ocean. It never ends, and the water is clear and gorgeous.

This was us at the United Center...and Kevin with his idol in statue form :)

This was our excursion to Harpo Studios: Workplace of the richest lady alive!!!

These were the views from the Sears Tower Skydeck, which was beautiful and frightening all at once!

Pictures from Millennium Park - they had a huge display/brick wall that continuously flashed different pictures of people from different cultures, which was really neat. And they have the most beautiful flowers and trees, which is such a contrast from the buildings that are located right across the street. So neat...

And finally, some pictures from our trip to the Field Museum of Natural History, which was really interesting and fun

Thoughts from CHI(lly) TOWN

Some noteable things about Chicago:

-It's COLD here in the mornings (have I mentioned that???)
-They have street signs on the interstate showing the way to neighboring states. We dont have that in the mass of land that is Texas. And I'll tell you why; there's no need because you can travel for 700 miles and still be in Texas. Blah.
-Their taxi drivers think you should double the speed limit and talk on cell phones, all the while ignoring EVERY law of the road. It's frightening really. And seemingly death-defying. I'm scared.
-It is the stereotypical big city: complete with a constant jack hammering sound from the building construction, people ALWAYS honking, rows and rows of tall buildings, underground roads, a huge homeless population, upscale shopping, scary ass cab rides, traffic traffic traffic, Starbucks EVERYWHERE.
It's just like being in a freakin' cold version of Houston. But in a good way :)

And also, after several days of forkin' out cash for cab fare, I call bullshit on Carrie from SATC taking cabs everywhere she went. No way. You never see that girl on the Subway...what's up with that?

Chicago - Day Two

Kevin and I have now been in Chicago for two days. So much to see, so little time! So far, we've been to the Sears Tower skydeck, the ESPN Zone, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum of Natural History, Soldier Field, Navy Pier, and the Hancock Observatory.
Tomorrow is Harpo Studios (where Oprah tapes), the United Center and to the White Sox game.
There's so much to say about Chicago - both good and bad.
First, the good:
It's beautiful. Lake Michigan is so clean and blue-green tinted - it's like being on the Miami coastline or something, and there are so many museums and different things to do. There are tulips planted all over the downtown area, giving it a very colorful atmosphere. The pizza is awesome - stuffed with pretty much whatever you want, and they had the brilliant idea of putting tomatoes and onions on hot dogs. Oh, and you can buy this from street vendors and not die from food poisoning. Big plus. I give big props to Chicago. It's been a cool place to visit.
On the down side, it's (of course) a big city, so you get all the extremes that go with it. They have this area called the Magnificent Mile that's filled with all the trendy (and expensive) boutiques and stores. People spend big money in this area. And for every rich person who's overspending, there's a poor person sitting outside asking for money so they can eat. And the rich don't seem to notice the homeless and the hungry as they walk down the street sporting their name brand items. It's such a contrasting lifestyle, and it's really sad.
And it's frickin' cold here. Texas knows not what cold is.
My Texan self brought tank tops and flip flops...and a denim jacket that's currently saving my life. Sort of. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Smarter Than The Average Bear...or not!

So Allie just lost a tooth. A bloody bloody tooth.
Is that normal?
And if so, did everybody else in the world know that dogs lose teeth?
Was I, once again, the last to know?
Now the puppy tooth fairy has to leave a bone under her puppy pad...
Oh happy day :)
