All Over

I have to say, the worst thing about working on the beach is that you have to see everybody having fun at the beach while you're stuck in doors getting more pale and pasty by the minute. The beach is famous for providing a fun, worry-free, relaxing time to all who come to visit, thus making me not want to work. Especially when I look out the window and see people surfing, building sandcastles, playing ball, and laying out...who wants to be at work when you can be relaxing on the beach? Not I said the fly.

I've gotten back to my tom-boy roots. Kev and I have been playing in a softball league on Sunday nights, and I left last Sunday after the game sweaty, with bloody knees and sore legs. And BAD hair! Good times. Oh, and I hit a homerun, which I haven't done since I was 18 years old or so. And I followed it up with a joyful leap and a girly squeal. Classy.

And I've given in to the half-marathon. Maybe I'll even lose some weight or something. So far, I'm up to 3.5 miles. Only 9.5 to go. Should be a breeze, right? Right?? Yeah, I'm screwed...

Quote of the Day

"Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right and the other is the husband."
SO TRUE!!! LOL
Have a great day!

Yang

Did anyone see the season finale of Grey's Anatomy?
Because I seriously spit out my diet coke when I saw Christina's non-eyebrows.
Funniest stuff EVER!

Thinking Back...

The thing that I love most about blogging is being able to look back over time and see where you were and what you were doing in the past.
A little over a year ago, I had just met my friend Karen for the first time. I love Karen. She's so down to earth and she makes me laugh so much - totally feel like I've known her forever.
But when I met her for the first time, I didn't know what to expect. I even blogged about it last year:
Women are like dogs.
We sniff each other out, looking for weaknesses and/or flaws.
Sure do.
There's a hot girl that just started working at our office today.
I've been circling her for awhile now. Checkin' her out to see if there are any crazy habits that I can latch on to.
There's not one - she's nice. And hot.
I hate her :)

Now that my year-long hunt for "crazy habits that I can latch on to" has produced no results, I'm officially calling it off :) Turns out one can be nice. And hot. LOL - who knew???

"We Bleed Maroon"

This is a song that was recently posted by "Agggie06" on twango.com
I think it sums up A&M in such a simple and beautiful way, I had to share it for all my Ags out there...

There's a place in my heart, a Spirit never told
A little town on the Brazos, a little ring made of gold
I carry it with me wherever I go, just to remember the times

We learned some from books, and a whole lot from livin'
And we etched our names in the wood at the Chicken
I still hear the sound of spurs on the concrete
And that ole train whistle blow in through the trees

So put a penny on Sully and wish me some luck
And yell, "Farmers Fight" when our boys are backed up
Throw your arms 'round each other, and sing "Hullabaloo"
Cause that's what we do when we bleed maroon

Midnight at Duncan they still light the torches
And Reveille still barks at the cavalier horses
I've seen eighty thousand to the power of twelve
It doesnt matter who comes to town, we still give 'em hell

I was there at the stack on November Eighteenth
With logs on the ground I fell down to my knees
But we would not forget the twelve that we lost
So we carved their names right there in the rock

So put a penny on Sully and wish me some luck
And yell, "Farmers Fight" when our boys are backed up
Throw your arms 'round each other, and sing "Hullabaloo"
Cause that's what we do when we bleed maroon

Well there late at night if I listen real close
the spirit still whispers through the crooked live oaks
I hear my father and his dad before
and all those brave Aggies who never came back for more

So put a penny on Sully and wish me some luck
And yell, "Farmers Fight" when our boys are backed up
Throw your arms 'round each other, and sing "Hullabaloo"
Cause that's what we do when we bleed maroon

Sing here for me at Muster when my time comes too
Cause that's what we do when we bleed maroon
Yeah that's what we do when we bleed maroon

Debating...

So one of the guys that I work with is a marathon training coach, and he's been on me for 4 years now to join his training class and run the marathon.
And every year I laugh at him and tell him he's crazy. Because he is. Anyone who willingly runs 26 miles is, at the very least, opposed to having functional knees.

Apparently, Darren has finally realized that I'm never going to willingly submit to a 6 hour run, so he's lowered his standards and is trying to get me to do the half-marathon. This is a bit more appealing to me. I actually know people (Shibbie, lookin' at you) who have run the half-marathon and lived to tell about it...while still being able to walk, which is a plus.

And let's face it, I'm not getting any younger. My metabolism's not getting any faster. And this would be a way to meet new people, get back in shape, and maybe even tone up a bit. So, to run or not to run? That is the question...

Get Up, Little Stumbelina

Kevin and I recently joined a slow-pitch softball team. Well two, actually.
Last Saturday, our office team played in the Social Security tournament, where we didn't actually win any games, but had the most fun losing. We were the only team I saw at the tournament with background music ("You Can't Touch This" by M.C. Hammer - YES!!) and dancing.
And then last night was our first game for Kev's office team. We lost 19-7. A good showing, I do believe. Nothing like getting laughed at by a bunch of old men on the opposing team. On the upside, our centerfielder was given the ever-so-fitting nickname, "Stumbelina." Classic.
