The Problem with Holidays in Texas...

...is that you can't really get in the holiday spirit when it's 70 freaking degrees outside. And it is. 70 degrees.
And as I was driving down the highway today with my air conditioner set to high, I couldn't help but think about how weird it was that Jingle Bell Rock was playing on the radio. Bizarre.

12-7 BABY!!!

After six long seasons, A&M finally won "the big game" against Texas!!!
For the first time since 1999, I can go to work on Monday without having to hear "How 'bout those Aggies?" or "What happened?" over and over again.
Thanks be to Coach Fran for this victorious...well, victory! AWOOHOO!!!

And P.S. Happy Birthday to my puppy, Allie, who turns one today :)

I thought the oldest sibling was supposed to be the over achiever???

So after playing with the lions on Friday, I had to go back and get some time in with baby tigers. Absolutely had to. But this time, my brother braved it with us. This is his account of our experience with the ever-so-cute albeit wild beasts. I'm showing this to you to prove my point: my brother's better than me at EVERYTHING. And I don't say that in the jealous sister way - I'm completely 100% proud that he's so awesome. Love my bubba! But sarcastic writing's my specialty and he even kicks the crap out of me at that!!! DAMN IT CRAIG! LOL

Today was a really long day. I woke up at 9:30 which is a major no-no for me. Dont think I've been up that early since i quit Academy. I mixed some songs for Shatterproof (a hardcore band from Texas City) and then proceeded to play with a tiger. Yeah, you read that right. I played with a freakin' tiger.

So what if the damn thing was only like 4 weeks old. It was still bigger than my dog. "Why Craig, how did you get the chance to play with the tiger, one of Mother Nature's most feared beings?" one may ask. There was a "play with lions and tigers exhibit" at the mall. Two people - $25, 8 minutes. Courtney and Kevin paid (thanks guys!).

I saw Annie and Melissa in line there as well. Though I am really excited that I didn't get mauled and permanantly disfigured by a 4 week old tiger (though, how awesomely embarassing that would be), I did make a joke with the trainer about stealing it. Turns out this is a major faux pas in the tiger world. The tiger lady proceeded to ruin the rest of my amazing tiger time by explaining how much trouble I would be in with Johnny Law if I actually stole it. (*sidenote - How great would it be to be a cop named Johnny Law?)

Another thing that I thought was odd, the tiger people had a table of stuff and they were selling "Piss on PETA" stickers. It made me wonder what they do with the tigers after they get old. Can you make glue from them?

Guess who played with a freaking lion today?
IT'S ME!
Now don't get too excited here - it was at a kiosk in the mall, and it was only a 7 week old lion...actually three 7 week old lions, but hey - at the end of the day, I played with a freaking lion!
Actually, it wasn't just me; my dad also played with lions (also known as zuzu, rascal and no-name...) while my mom was on cell phone camera detail, hanging out cautiously in the corner of the cage, so as not to alert the lions to the fact that she was a warm blooded creature - ie lion dinner.
If ever you get the chance to hang with lions while in the comfort of a mall, I highly recommend.

My Girl Felicia Turns 21 Today!!!

I'm not gonna lie - our has not always been a relationship of rainbows and butterflies. Lots of ups and downs, in fact.
When she first started dating my brother, over 6 years ago, she was this shy little creature that I felt this constant urge to pick on in an attempt to get her out of her shell. Until one day, Felicia snapped. She finally had enough of my crap and yelled at me to "SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP!"
It was then that I knew my instincts were correct. The force was strong in that one.
And now today, just 6 short years later, my little Fee has become the smart alec I always knew she could be. I'm so proud, I could cry!!!

It took awhile (ha), but I love you like a sister!
Happy Birthday, Fee :)

My Berle...Part II

OK - finally had time to post the pics from Berly's (Alivia's?) baby shower

How cute is she?

And how cute is this? Alivia's a "Little Aggie" for sure :)

In fact, she's class of 2029, according to this...

This was a shot at the early efforts at cloud-making

And this was the end result. The bubble looking things on the wall do not show up in real life - only in pictures - I think my camera was having issues at that point.

Alivia has parents that love her so much. She's one lucky girl already!

My Berle

So I went to see our recently blog-absent berly this weekend for her baby shower.
Got to see her beautiful house, which I absolutely loved. It's perfect for her - bright, open and full of color. Got to attend her baby shower, which was a lot of fun, and even got to help her sponge paint clouds all over Alivia's nursery. SO CUTE! There's this sign up behind the crib that says, "I love you to the moon and back." Couldn't be more perfect!
As I was watching her open her presents, it really hit me that she's going to be a MOM. As in, A REAL-LIFE MOM!!! LOL
I met Berly when she was this 18-year old college kid, going through all the "perils" of college - hard classes, boy troubles, etc. We were all going through it at that point. But we always managed to have fun, especially when we were jammin' out to "Cowboy" in her car while we searched for places to eat on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To this day I can not hear that song without thinking of Berle.
But as I was sitting in Berly's living room on Saturday night, sorting out Alivia's clothes and waiting for our husbands to get home from the Aggie football game, it hit me. My little Berly is all grown up :) And I couldn't be more proud of her...

And P.S. - pictures from this weekend to follow!!!
